Ping Pong, Bouncing into Innovative Play:
An NLB Library Programme
We were tasked with creating a library programme for a community present in Ang Mo Kio. Through dedicated time spent together, we dedicated the event to celebrate their passion of ping pong.

Not only were we to create a customised event for the library, but we were to connect and communicate with our three interviewees from Ang Mo Kio for several weeks. These meetings included spending an hour each time playing ping pong, then sharing breakfast together and enquiring about their experiences.

My group then reached the mutual agreement that we wanted to celebrate our interviewee’s love for ping pong. Mr Tan, Mr See and Mr Tay were content with much they had in their life -- the daily meetings with ping pong is what kept them grounded.
Our Groups Prototypes and Logistics
I helped with the ideation and sourcing appropriate accessories and souvenirs. These included balloon accessories (and learning how to make them), party accessories, cardboard arms and making our keychain souvenir.
Concluseively, we were pleasantly surprised to hear that our programme’s participants were all male, when majority participants of library programmes were females.
